Question: I have an undergraduate degree in something other than Social Work, do I have to get a BSW before I can get a MSW?
No. There is no required major to apply to a MSW program.. If you have a BSW the courses in most schools, including Georgia State University and University of Georgia, are completed in three semesters over a one year time period. This is because some MSW programs have an Advanced Standing Masters program which allows students with a BSW degree to complete degree requirements in a shorter period of time. For students without a BSW the MSW program is four semesters completed over two years.
