Jacalyn Schremmer
It is with great sadness that the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing shares the news of the death of one of our undergraduate students, Ms. Jacalyn Schremmer. Jackie died at her home on Saturday morning, June 7, 2008. We all have been stunned and grief stricken with this news. Jackie, an accomplished student having already completed two degrees at the University of Tennessee, was in her final semester of our nursing program and would have graduated August 2008.

The school of nursing has been notified by Jackie's former husband, Dr. Steve Smith, that her memorial service will be Friday, June 13, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church located at 1790 LaVista Road, Atlanta, GA 30329. The church telephone number is 404-634-3336 and the web address is www.stbartsatlanta.org. Condolence cards may be sent to Jackie's mother, Mrs. Josephine Schremmer at 7209 Birch Bark Drive, Nashville, TN 37221 and/or Jackie's former husband, Dr. Steve Smith at 1280 Mayfair Drive, Atlanta, GA 30324. Dr. Smith indicated that the Nature Conservancy was one of Jackie's favorite charities. The school of nursing will make a contribution to this organization in memory of Jackie.

We know that we will assist each other through this difficult time. Please remember that assistance is available at the Counseling Center. The Counseling Center can be contacted at 404-413-1640.

The school of nursing requests that we all remember Jackie's family in our thoughts and prayers.
