IMPORTANT CLINICAL ANNOUNCEMENT
All students scheduled for clinical experiences at Emory Hospital and clinics, Emory Midtown Hospital and clinics, (formally Crawford Long Hospital,) and Wesley Woods must obtain their seasonal flu vaccine prior to October 23rd, 2009. Flu vaccine can be obtained in the GSU Student Health Center for $25.00. The Student Health Clinic is located at 141 Piedmont Ave., on the first floor of the new "Commons" student housing building. Normal hours of operation are Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Validation of immunization must be given to Angela Corley, for undergraduate students, and Felita Milon for graduate studetns, no later than October 23rd, 2009.

Applications for the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing Scholarships are now being accepted. The scholarships are for the Spring 2010 Semester. The scholarship awarded will be directly deposited into your student account. Please refer to the School of Nursing Scholarship web site for information about each scholarship and their application. The due date for all of the scholarships is October 16, 2009.

Call for Applications: Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity (BAGNC) Scholarship and Fellowship Programs

The American Academy of Nursings BAGNC Program is seeking nurses who are committed to advancing the field of geriatric nursing through doctoral studies and research. Two-year scholarships ($50,000 per year) and fellowships ($60,000 per year) are available for the 2010-2012 cohort.

Experienced Family Nurse Practitioner Needed
Urgent need for a Nurse Practitioner with Occupational Health or Family Practice experience. Experience is manadatory because this NP would be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management. The NP manages clinical services to employees and exercises autonomous decision making. Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP)
Administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program (NELRP) provides funding to repay up to 60 percent of a qualifying nurse’s educational loans in exchange for a two- or three-year post-graduation service commitment. NELRP is designed to assist in the recruitment and retention of professional RNs dedicated to providing health care in facilities with a crucial shortage of nurses and to provide an opportunity for RNs to consider a career in such facilities. The program offers nurses substantial economic assistance to repay a portion of their educational loans in exchange for full-time service at a designated healthcare facility. Merle Kennon Lott Scholarship Deadline has been extended!
The Merle Kennon Lott Scholarship Deadline has been extended to Friday, November 21, 2008 at 5:00pm. This nursing scholarship is available to assist students interested in public health nursing or community health nursing. All applicants must have financial need. Lott scholarships provide funding to RN-BS students; masters-level students who are either in a primary care track in the School of Nursing, or RN pursuing a Masters of Public Health degree; and dissertation awards for a nursing doctoral students.
