- When is the deadline to apply?
The application period for the fall semester is November 1 – March 1. March 1 is the deadline to apply for fall semester. The application period for the spring semester is June 1 – October 1. October 1 is the deadline to apply for spring semester. (The RN-BS Bridge Program admits for the fall semester only.)
- When will I receive a decision?
Applications are reviewed only after they are complete - this includes all application materials and a completed entrance exam, as well as acceptance to Georgia State University as a "degree-seeking undergraduate." Applications decisions are generally mailed during the months of March, April, and October.
- Who can answer questions about prerequisites?
To receive information via mail or arrange an appointment with an academic advisor, call the Office of Academic Assistance at 404-413-1000.
- Do I have to finish all prerequisites before I can submit an application?
No, but you must be able to finish all prerequisites before the semester in which you are applying to enter the program. You must also indicate the courses in which you are currently enrolled in your application. If you are completing prerequisites at any college other than Georgia State University, you must also submit an unofficial transcript to the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing and an official transcript to Georgia State’s Undergraduate Admissions Office reflecting your completed prerequisites immediately following completion of your courses.
- I applied last year. Do I have to take the TEAS again?
If your TEAS is more than a year old from the date you submit your nursing application (within the application period), you must re-take the TEAS.
- Can I take the TEAS again if I don't think I did well?
Yes; however, Georgia State will not compare multiple test scores. Make sure that you specify the score you want to be considered on your application. A separate testing fee is required per exam.
- Can I use a calculator on the TEAS?
No.
- I have already taken this test this year at another school of nursing. Will GSU accept my results from another school?
Yes, but only directly from the school that administered the test or from Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC (ATI) at 800-667-7531. If your results are being sent from another school, the results must be mailed to the following address by the nursing application deadline in school stationery and signed across the flap:

- Is there a study guide for the TEAS test?
Yes. Study guides for nursing school entrance exams are available at many bookstores. They are usually found in the section with the study guides for SAT, ACT, etc. You can ask the bookstore to order one for you if you must. You may also go to http://www.atitesting.com/global/students/teas-study-manual.aspx to order a study guide from the publisher.
- Is there a form that I should give to my references to help them write a letter of recommendation?
No. Any professional format for a letter of recommendation is acceptable. Be sure to ask your reference to include their contact information in the letter.
- Do I have to be accepted by Georgia State University before I can apply to the nursing program?
No, you may apply simultaneously if you choose. However, you must be accepted by Georgia State University before our nursing application deadline in order for your nursing application to be considered for the semester in which you are applying. Therefore, you must make sure that you apply to Georgia State in enough time for efficient processing.
