Applications and Requirements

A complete nursing application contains the following: Application Cover Sheet, two Letters of Recommendation, 2-page Essay, Short Answers (including courses taken table), and unofficial Transcripts (only for students who have obtained college credit at another institution). All application materials must be submitted to the CHHS Office of Academic Assistance inside a letter size envelope as one complete packet. Only complete applications that are received by the nursing application deadline will be reviewed for admission.

You must also take the Nursing Entrance Test (NET) as a part of your application process. If taken at Georgia State University, the NET must be taken by the last testing date listed on the website. If taken at another college, NET scores must be submitted directly to the BFL School of Nursing and received no later than nursing application deadline. Scores received after the deadline will not be considered. Scores submitted within the application packet will not be considered.

  • Application Cover Sheet - Use to apply for the Traditional option and/or the Accelerated option.

  • Two Letters of Recommendation
    A. One letter must be academic (preferable college level); the other may be academic or professional.
    B.  Letters must include the contact information of the reference and must be presented in a professional format.
    C.  Each letter must be submitted in a sealed envelope that is signed across the flap.
**(Applicants MUST include the un-opened recommendation letters with their nursing application. Letters that are submitted directly by the reference OR that have been opened will not be considered.)

  • Essay - Discuss your position on a healthcare or social issue in a two-page, double-spaced, typed essay. Include your full name on the first page of the document. Do not include cover pages, report covers, or graphics.

  • Short Answers - Click to download questions.

  • Transcripts - If you have taken courses at another college or university during the last two semesters, you must submit a transcript from each school in which you received credit for this time period. The transcript(s) sent with your nursing application materials may be unofficial, but will not substitute for your official transcripts that need to be sent to the Undergraduate Office of Admissions. (Do not submit transcripts if you have taken all of your courses at Georgia State University.)

Mail all of the above to:
    Office of Academic Assistance
College of Health & Human Sciences
    PO Box 3995
    Atlanta, GA 30302-3995

  • Entrance Exam - The Nursing Entrance Exam must be taken as part of your application.  Exams taken at Georgia State require registration.

NOTE: You must be accepted by Georgia State University as a degree-seeking undergraduate student before your nursing application will be reviewed. Nursing applicants that have not been accepted by Georgia State by our nursing application deadline will not be considered for admission for the semester in which you are applying. Please contact Georgia State's Undergraduate Admissions Office regarding processing time for your university application.
