Accreditation and Approval:
The Georgia Board of Nursing grants approval to all schools of nursing in
Georgia. Full Approval is based on review of the school and documentation of
compliance with rules and regulations relating to registered nurse education as
well as an overall passing percentage of eighty (80) percent of all first time
takers of the licensing examination, NCLEX, in the last four years.
The Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing has Full Approval from the Georgia Board

The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is a national
accreditation agency for schools of nursing that has been recognized by the U.
S. Secretary of Education. CCNE accreditation is voluntary and is based on
self-assessment and peer review. Both the baccalaureate and master's program are
accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for a
10-year period, from April 2004 through April 2014. Please see the CCNE web site

The Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and
Schools (SACS) is the recognized regional accrediting body in eleven
U.S. Southern states and
in Latin America for those institutions of higher education that award
associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degrees. Georgia State University is
accredited by SACS to award bachelor’s, master’s, educational specialist, and
