Dr. Carol Howell has taught psychiatric-mental health nursing for the past twenty-nine years. She has extensive clinical experience in both private and public mental health facilities. Dr Howell is an associate professor in the School of Nursing at Georgia State University, where she has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has served on School, College and University committees and is currently on the College Faculty Advisory and Non-Tenure Track Promotions Committees, and Chairperson for the School of Nursing Faculty Search & a member of the Graduate Program Committees.
Her research area is the identification of childhood risk factors for cardiovascular disease. She has presented her research at regional, national, and international conferences, and has numerous publications in professional journals. Currently she is co PI on a NINR grant involving anger/stress interventions with children is to end in 2007. Dr. Howell serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Advanced Nursing Research, Issues in Mental Health Nursing, Applied Nursing Research, and has been an invited reviewer for Annals of Behavioral Medicine.
