Mission Statement
"The mission of the College of Health and Human Sciences is to engage in teaching, scholarly endeavors, and service activities that improve health and well-being and address social justice issues within a multi-cultural society. This is accomplished through a unique professional and academic interdisciplinary environment and a community-focused approach that enriches student learning, fosters leadership development, and furthers the pursuit of science."
This mission statement is founded on the beliefs and vision expressed in Georgia State University's mission statement and strategic plan, and is guided by the following:
- The faculty emphasizes scholarship to enhance teaching and positively impact the shared knowledge base of the professional and scientific communities they represent.
- The professions represented in the college have a responsibility to individual clients and communities to prepare students who have broad-based knowledge, integrity, and competence in their area of specialization.
- The faculty strives to develop and employ teaching skills that will serve as models of professionalism for students.
- Service activities are valued and benefit the college, the university, and the community.
- Ethnic, gender, and racial diversity in the college strengthens and enriches the college. This diversity improves our capacity to interact effectively with professional organizations and facilitates our work with underserved communities.
- The college should take a leadership role in ensuring educational access to populations that have traditionally been underrepresented in those professions served by the college.
