Safe Schools Initiative:  Ending Restraint and Seclusion in Georgia Public Schools

Currently in Georgia, schools restrain and seclude children. This is a dangerous practice that must end.  In 2009, the Georgia Department of Education began work to develop a State Education Rule that would regulate the use of "Seclusion and Restraint for All Students."  That rule is currently being revised and is anticipated to be introduced for public comment in early 2010.

Now is the time to act and make your voice heard.  Write a letter to the Georgia Department of Education telling them you want protections for students and teachers against the harmful practices of restraint and seclusion. See CLD's letter to the left, as an example.
