Mission of the Criminal Justice Student Association

The Criminal Justice Student Association is an organization open to all GSU students who are interested in crime and criminal justice-related topics. We seek to provide a forum that facilitates interaction between students, faculty, program alumni, professionals employed in the field, and members of the broader community. We are committed to developing networks with future criminal justice employers, the GSU Student Government Association, and faculty members in the Criminal Justice Department. Membership brings students and the community together to promote awareness of criminal justice issues in society. Being a member of the CJSA is a great way to get involved on campus and in the community, to help develop team building and leadership skills, and to meet other individuals interested in criminal justice issues.

Future Goals of the Organization

We are always looking to provide greater access to individuals who can answer questions, provide insight, or provide direction to students. Currently, we are exploring the requirements necessary to establish chapters of the American Criminal Justice Association Lambda Alpha Epsilon and the Alpha Phi Sigma National Criminal Justice Honor Society. By joining these national organizations, we can greatly expand our networking capabilities and enhance the recognition of our CJSA.

News and Announcements

We are diligently working to provide another year of quality programming. Currently, we are in the process of scheduling several guest speakers and working to arrange visits to various criminal justice facilities. Additionally, we are seeking individuals to help arrange the Criminal Justice Job Fair during the Spring Semester.

CJSA WebCT Site: We have created a WebCT website to provide timely information about the meetings and activities of the CJSA. This website also allows you to correspond with other CJSA members through the electronic bulletin board system. Please get in the habit of checking this site for all of your CJSA needs. Please note: You should be able to access the CJSA website directly after logging on to your WebCT homepage. If you are unable to access the CJSA site, please email us at cjsa@gsu.edu so that we may add you to the system.

Internship Information: Do NOT forget that all Criminal Justice majors must complete their internship requirements before graduating. Please make sure to check this link for important internship-related deadlines.

Scholarship Opportunities: Students in the Department of Criminal Justice have a number of scholarships available to them. Why not take advantage of these "free money" opportunities? Click on the Scholarship Opportunities link for more information about these offers exclusively available to GSU CJ students. Make sure to also check out the CJSA WebCT site for information about thousands of other scholarship opportunities for which you may be eligible.

Job Fair: The Criminal Justice Student Association will be hosting the Annual Criminal Justice Job Fair during the Spring Semester. We are currently looking for volunteers to help set things up! You will have the opportunity to meet face-to-face recruiters from dozens of government agencies as well as private companies in the Criminal Justice field. Admission is free and officers of the CJSA will be on hand to accept new members. Times and dates are yet to be determined. Previous job fairs have included participants from a number of local, county, state, and federal agencies, including:
