- Criminal Justice
The term ‘criminal justice’ refers to public safety agencies, courts, and corrections as a system for the administration of city, county, state and federal laws.
- Center for Healthy Development
The two programs that make up the center are the Center for Leadership in Disability and The National SafeCare® Training and Research Center (NSTRC).
- National Center on Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
The National Center was established in 2001, within the College of Health and Human Sciences at Georgia State University. Our aim is to support grandparent-headed families in order that they may secure a promising future for their grandchildren.
- Nursing
The Byrdine F Lewis School of Nursing is adynamic unit of students and scholars engaged in nursing education at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels. Approximately 500 students, 40 full time and 20 part time faculty members are involved in clinical education, practice and research to improve the healthcare of Georgians and the greater-society.
- Nutrition
The Division of Nutrition examines problems relating to food and nutrition needs of diverse populations and educates professionals who develop nutrition programs and deliver nutrition services in clinical, public health, educational, foodservice, and business settings. Students and faculty in the division work together on projects ranging from special needs of competitive athletes and immigrant populations to health programs for at-risk youth to laboratory studies on effects of special fats on obesity.
- Physical Therapy
The mission of the Division of Physical Therapy is to prepare doctors of physical therapy who are committed to clinical excellence, professional distinction, and the pursuit of scholarly activities that contribute to the body of scientific and clinical knowledge.
- Project Healthy Grandparents
Our mission is to improve the quality of life for families in which grandparents are raising grandchildren in parent-absent homes.
- Public Health
The Institute of Public Health is a graduate degree-granting program with the mission of advancing health through leadership, scholarship, research and service to better the human condition and promote the common good. The MPH program at Georgia State University is fully accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health and has graduated scores of students including a number of Fulbright Scholars.
- Respiratory Therapy
The Division of Respiratory Therapy examines problems relating to breathing disorders including asthma, emphysema, pneumonia and lung infections, cystic fibrosis and breathing difficulties due to premature birth. Students and faculty in the division work together on projects ranging from diagnosing lung and breathing disorders, mechanical ventilators and artificial airway devices, to educating patients and families about lung disease for maximum recovery.
- Social Work
As a profession, social work focuses on the dynamic and reciprocal relationship between individuals and their environment. The School of Social Work at GSU has a specific concentration on community partnerships.
