Transfer Credit

Attention applicants and prospective students:

We cannot address transfer credit inquiries for individuals who are not yet accepted to GSU. Our transfer evaluations are done on a course-by-course basis for each student. Therefore, it is not possible for us to determine which of your courses will be transferable prior to your acceptance. The Office of Admissions has information and an application available at http://www.gsu.edu/undergraduate_admission.html.

For transfers from schools within the University System of Georgia, information on how Georgia State meets the core curriculum can be found in the GSU Undergraduate Catalog. Students who complete an Associate's Degree  from a system school typically have met all freshman/sophomore requirements in Areas A, B, C, and E.

How it Works:

A maximum of 60 semester hours can be applied toward degree credit from any 2year college

A maximum of 81 semester hours can be applied toward degree credit from any 4year college

No more than 12 semester hours of "D" credit can be used only in areas where "D" credit is acceptable (see the undergraduate catalog for the grade of "D" policy)

If you are transferring quarter hours, you will receive credit for 3.3 semester hours (1.5 quarter hours is equal to one semester hour)

Dummy numbers (1099, 2099, 3099, and 4099) are assigned by the Admissions Office to unfamiliar course titles. It is the student's responsibility to bring a course description from the previous institution so that the course may be evaluated and equated to a similar GSU course. If credit is missing from your transfer evaluation:
